Tropical “Yurt Plus” option for the Solo Traveler

Rental Price Monthly: $850

Rental Price Yearly: $850

The French artist, Paul Gauguin, (1848-1903) went to Martinique in the Caribbean Islands in search of an authentic, unspoiled world. He sought both to paint the natural environment and the island’s inhabitants and, also, “to live like a native,” which he did, in a plantation worker’s hut. Our charming lodging, named Martinique, celebrates Gauguins’s work from this sojourn.

Much more than a plantation worker’s hut, a Yurt is a sturdy, reliable and cozy circular structure. Each of our 16’ diameter yurts is built on a raised tropical wood platform with high tech fabric covering a flexible wood lattice. The 11’ dome ceiling, held aloft by hardwood ribs, is topped by a clear porthole to the sky to allow stargazing from your cozy twin bed. Adding to your comfort is a vintage easy chair with foot stool. Perfect for a solo traveler. This main room has 2 screened and curtained windows and a spacious cabinet for the contents of your luggage.

Now for the Plus…Through the back door you’ll take a few steps up a covered ramp into a fully enclosed pavilion that is your private cook and bath house. Nicely equipped and modern, with wonderful natural light and surrounded by tropical plants. Abundant hot water and spotless white linens. Outside, you have a table in the garden for an al fresco dining experience.

For your safety, security and convenience:

  • All water is purified
  • Fully WiFi enabled
  • Fully fenced
  • Electronically gated
  • Secure Parking
  • Laundry Room Available
  • Dog Friendly Property includes a separately fenced dog run
  • Be sure to pack a sweater and rain gear

NO NEED FOR A CAR FOR YOUR STAY

A mini bus from Boquete town to The Villa passes our place “about” every 30 minutes

This mountain enclave in the Chiriqui highlands is surrounded by emerald green coffee plantations and tropical foliage. Enjoy panoramic views to the Pacific Ocean, cool breezes, bajaraque, rainbows, starry night skies and flocks of chattering wild parakeets as they make their way across the treetops. Yet, The Villa Gauguin is only a 15 minute drive from Boquete town on a well paved road.

Along this route, Panama’s Ruta Agroturismo, you can experience local agricultural activities close up and visit the lush plantations that produce some of the world’s best coffee, including Finca Lerida (also known for sighting the exotic Resplendent Quetzal and numerous other tropical birds.)

As The Villa Gauguin sits at the highest point along this route, immediately beyond our entry gate the road begins to wind down to the Caldera River. Here you will discover the entrance to Volcan Baru National Park with its famous hiking venue, the Quetzal Trail. Also close by is the entrance to the Pipeline Trail for an easy stroll, as well as the more vigorous 3 Lost Waterfalls Trail. Other attractions include the San Ramon Waterfall, a goat farm and Los Ladrillos for rock climbing enthusiasts.

The Villa Gauguin, not just another place to stay in Boquete…a unique and exciting destination for the adventurer.
