Whether you’re a Digital Nomad traveling lightly or a person seeking a new minimalist vibe, the Panama Yurt experience may suit your style! We named the yurt to recognize another minimalist, the French artist, Paul Gauguin. Did you know he spent time in Panama working on The Canal?

So, you may ask, but what is a yurt? A yurt is sturdy, reliable and cozy circular structure developed in Mongolia about 2,000 years ago. Each of our 16’ diameter yurts is built on a raised tropical wood platform with high tech fabric covering a flexible wood lattice. The 11’ dome ceiling, held aloft by hardwood ribs, is topped by a clear porthole to the sky to allow stargazing from your comfy handcrafted Queen bed that sleeps 2.

The open floor plan allows easy access to a kitchenette furnished with a sink, mini refrigerator, cookware and tableware. A covered barbecue area is nearby. Dining options include a table for 2 indoors, a table in the barbecue area, or picnic style on the grass.

A detached, modern, shared bathroom is just steps away with personal toilet, shower and vanity chambers. Enjoy abundant hot water and spotless white towels. The bathhouse exterior explodes with life size images from some of Paul Gauguin’s most famous paintings.

For your safety, security and convenience:

  • All water is purified
  • Fully WiFi enabled
  • Fully fenced
  • Electronically gated
  • Secure Parking
  • Laundry Room Available
  • Dog Friendly Property includes a separately fenced dog run
  • Be sure to pack a sweater and rain gear

NO NEED FOR A CAR FOR YOUR STAY

A mini bus from Boquete town to The Villa passes our place “about” every 30 minutes

This mountain enclave in the Chiriqui highlands is surrounded by emerald green coffee plantations and tropical foliage. Enjoy panoramic views to the Pacific Ocean, cool breezes, bajaraque, rainbows, starry night skies and flocks of chattering wild parakeets as they make their way across the treetops. Yet, The Villa Gauguin is only a 15 minute scenic drive from Boquete town on a well paved road.

Along this route, Panama’s Ruta Agroturismo, you can experience local agricultural activities close up and visit the lush plantations that produce some of the world’s best coffee, including neighboring Finca Lerida (also known for sighting the exotic Resplendent Quetzal and numerous other tropical birds.)

As The Villa Gauguin sits at the highest point along this route, immediately beyond our entry gate the road begins to wind down to the Caldera River. Here you will discover the entrance to Volcan Baru National Park with its famous hiking venue, the Quetzal Trail. Also close by is the entrance to the Pipeline Trail for an easy stroll, as well as the more vigorous 3 Lost Waterfalls Trail. Other attractions include the San Ramon Waterfall, a goat farm and Los Ladrillos for rock climbing enthusiasts.

The Villa Gauguin, not just another place to stay in Boquete…a unique and exciting destination for the adventurer.
