Los Altos de Cerro Azul is located just 30 minutes from Tocumen International Airport, making it a convenient weekend retreat for city dwellers seeking to escape the heat. The gated community features 24-hour security, a country club with a pool, tennis courts, and restaurant, as well as a series of trails through one of the oldest cloud forests in the Western Hemisphere.

In this cloud forest, you can find rare palm trees that are native to only three countries in the world: Ivory Coast, Haiti, and Panama. The mystery of how these palms made their way from the African coast to the Caribbean and then to Central America is currently being studied by the Smithsonian Institute in Panama.
