El Salto

El Salto is one of those very special areas just above Boquete’s downtown area where people often love to live.  Tall evergreen trees line the road that runs up from downtown all the way to the National Park entrance just above El Salto.

Tremendous views meet you all the way up and down this nicely paved road.  On the one side, there are amazing vistas of Volcan Baru and the Boquete valley.  On the other side, the mountains are grand and you can see across the valley all the way to Palo Alto and the Continental Divide.  Homes on each side of the road are beneficiaries of all those truly awesome views.  And, they benefit from a short, easy ride into downtown.  Homes in El Salto are generally 3 to 10 minutes from downtown.

El Salto has coffee farms and greenhouses. Among them are luxury homes with large lots, sometimes with small coffee farms of their own, and sometimes for sale.

A new major Boquete attraction has recently opened in El Salto near town.  It is called Ecoparque (Eco-Park) Cerro la Cruz.  This magical park is part rides, like a huge, fun slide, part playgrounds, part petting zoo with exotic animals where you can also feed and pet deer that wander the property and an incredible view lookout with many vantage points. It’s a unique place that is so nice to have in your neighborhood.

El Salto is located on the north side of the loop road that joins up with the Volcancito loop road.  That provides a way to access friends and places in the Volcancito area without heading back through town.  At the top of the loop on the El Salto side is the entrance to the Volcan Baru National Park.

One of the most famous places in all of Panama is Volcan Baru, the majestic mountain that is Panama’s highest peak.   Volcan Baru is also home to one of the most beautiful National Parks in Panama.  To reach the summit, tourists and mountaineers go up the paved El Salto area road and come to the Park ranger station.  The area here is called Camiseta, a part of high altitude Boquete just above El Salto, Boquete.

Another attraction in El Salto that tells you a bit about the area is the Finca Dos Jefes coffee farm and tours.  Finca Dos Jefes is a popular and very pretty place run by expats and long-time Boquete residents who successfully pursued their dream of operating a successful coffee farm with tours.

Homes and properties in El Salto often have bananas, coffee and orange trees on the property.
