Tocumen, a vibrant corregimiento located in the Panama District, in the eastern area of the Metropolitan Area of Panama City. This charming community has roots dating back to the 1950s when the construction of Tocumen International Airport captured the attention of locals and gave rise to this thriving enclave.

Today, Tocumen is known as one of the most populous corregimientos in the Panama District, home to approximately 115,000 residents. Its explosive growth is largely due to the construction of various urbanizations that have transformed the landscape from its humble beginnings as a small farming village in 1972.

This dynamic corregimiento is strategically located, bordering Caimitillo to the north, Pacora to the south, the 24 de Diciembre district to the east, and Las Mañanitas, Alcalde Díaz, Ernesto Córdoba Campos, and Don Bosco to the west. Encompassing an area of 65.3 km², Tocumen has flourished into a place of vital significance, not only due to its international airport, which covers 20% of the territory but also due to its rich educational and service offerings.

Among its attractions are various prominent educational institutions, including a branch of the prestigious Technological University of Panama. Additionally, Tocumen boasts a diverse service infrastructure, such as the Corregiduría, the Health Center, the National Bank, the Policlinica of the Caja de Seguro Social Remón Cantera, the Panamanian Red Cross, the Savings Bank, and the Municipal Dining Hall. For sports enthusiasts, this corregimiento offers numerous facilities, from basketball courts to sports complexes and soccer fields.

At the heart of Tocumen, residents enjoy the tranquility of well-maintained parks, such as Sector Sur/Miguel Moreno, La Rotonda, and the playgrounds in the La Siesta and Ciudad Belén urbanizations. Additionally, the community celebrates the patron saint festival of San Antonio de Padua on June 13th, a celebration filled with joy and tradition.

Tocumen, with its historical charm and modern vitality, presents itself as an ideal place for those seeking a balanced life between the conveniences of the city and the serenity of a cozy home. With a wide range of educational options, essential services, and recreational activities, this corregimiento offers a truly unique lifestyle in the heart of Panama.
