Starting December 4, 2025, travelers from Panama will be able to fly directly to one of Mexico’s most iconic beach destinations – Los Cabos. Copa Airlines has officially announced the launch of its first direct route connecting Panama City to Los Cabos, marking a milestone as the first nonstop service between the destination and Latin America.
The new route will operate three times a week – Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays – aboard Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Copa Airlines expects to transport over 25,000 passengers annually through this connection, giving travelers from more than 20 countries in Central and South America access to this Pacific paradise through Panama’s Hub of the Americas.
According to Copa Airlines CEO Pedro Heilbron, “This route not only shortens distances but also strengthens Panama’s position as a key gateway for tourism in the Americas.”
For Los Cabos, famous for its luxury resorts, desert-meets-sea landscapes, and high-end dining, the route opens the doors to a broader Latin American audience. Rodrigo Esponda, Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, highlighted that the partnership with Copa Airlines “will strengthen our presence in Latin American markets and promote cultural and economic exchange in the region.”
The timing couldn’t be better. Panama’s tourism industry continues to thrive, with a 4.3% increase in international visitors and an 8.3% rise in tourism revenues – totaling $3.86 billion – between January and July 2025, according to the Panama Tourism Authority.
This new connection means Panamanians and Latin American travelers can now reach Los Cabos more easily and affordably, without the need for U.S. layovers. From scuba diving and whale watching to world-class golf and cuisine, Los Cabos offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation for travelers seeking an unforgettable coastal escape.
Copa Airlines continues to expand its network of destinations, connecting Panama to over 80 cities across the Americas. With Los Cabos now on the list, Panama further solidifies its role as a major air hub in the region – a point of pride for a country that already connects North, Central, and South America with ease.
