Mulino Authorizes Road Repairs for El Valle de Anton and New Street Projects in Gorgona, Chame, and San Carlos

President Jose Raul Mulino on Friday, March 13, 2026, issued the order to proceed for the rehabilitation of the road connecting the Pan-American Highway to El Valle de Anton, while also launching additional street improvement projects in Gorgona, Chame, and San Carlos. According to official information from the Presidency and the Ministry of Public Works, the combined investment exceeds $24.8 million and is expected to benefit more than 55,000 people in Cocle and Panama Oeste.

El Valle Road Project Moves Forward

The El Valle de Anton project will be carried out by Transeq-Copsa and includes the rehabilitation of 34.8 kilometers of roadway at a cost of $12,468,814.14. Officials said the work is expected to directly benefit more than 20,000 residents, while also supporting the agricultural, commercial, and tourism activity tied to one of Cocle’s best-known mountain destinations.

For residents, visitors, and businesses connected to El Valle de Anton, the project matters because road quality plays a major role in access, travel comfort, and reliability. El Valle is already one of Panama’s most recognized weekend and lifestyle destinations, so better road conditions could make trips more predictable and improve daily mobility for people who live and work in the area. The Casa Solution community pages also include nearby coverage for El Valle & Nearby Mountains.

Gorgona, Chame, and San Carlos Also Included

During the same event, the government formalized the start of a separate street project in Gorgona. That contract, awarded to the Consorcio Calles de Gorgona, carries an investment of $1,751,070.74 and covers 6.1 kilometers of roads in the corregimiento of Gorgona, district of Chame.

Mulino also gave the order to proceed for the project covering streets in Chame and San Carlos. That phase will be executed by Consorcio San Carlos, with an investment of $10,618,426 and the rehabilitation of 38.1 kilometers of roads. The Ministry of Public Works said the project will directly benefit more than 30,000 residents. Works listed for the area include the Panamericana-Punta Chame road, El Salado-Llano Grande and its branch, plus several local roads in San Carlos including Los Pintos, La Gloria, Camino Los Colibris, and El Nance.

For readers following Panama Oeste, these works are relevant to communities such as Gorgona and San Carlos, both of which are already important residential and beach-area markets on Casa Solution’s website.

What This Could Mean for Property in the Area

From a property perspective, road rehabilitation does not automatically change values overnight. Still, it often improves one of the fundamentals buyers and residents care about most, which is access. In El Valle de Anton, better road conditions can make the area more practical for full-time residents, weekend homeowners, hospitality businesses, and expats looking for a mountain setting within reach of Panama City. In Gorgona, Chame, and San Carlos, upgraded local streets can improve day-to-day circulation and strengthen confidence in established communities rather than opening the door to speculation on its own.

That is probably the most balanced way to view these announcements. The immediate impact is infrastructure and mobility. The broader property impact, if it comes, will depend on execution quality, maintenance, and how consistently these roads improve travel over time.

A Positive Signal on Local Infrastructure

The announcement stands out because it combines tourism-oriented access in El Valle with neighborhood-level road improvements in Panama Oeste. For residents and investors alike, that is usually a more meaningful signal than headline projects alone. Better roads support daily life first, and over time that can help communities function more smoothly.

If you are exploring homes, land, or investment opportunities in El Valle, Gorgona, San Carlos, or other key Panama communities, Casa Solution Real Estate can help you understand the local market with on-the-ground guidance and current listings.
