Copa Airlines will connect San Jose de David, Chiriqui to 69 destinations via the Hub of the Americas

  • Starting January 15, Copa Airlines will resume service to the Panamanian market with two daily flights to San Jose de David, connecting the province of Chiriqui to 69 destinations via the Hub of the Americas.

  • The new flights will open up a world of possibilities for tourism and business in this important region of the country.

Panama City, November 29, 2014 – Copa Airlines {NYSE: CPA}, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A. and a member of the Star Alliance global network, announced today that beginning January 15, it will operate two direct flights between San Jose de David, Chiriqui, and the Hub of the Americas in Panama City. These flights will connect Chiriqui, an important province, with Copa Airlines’ extensive route network in North, Central, and South America.

Copa Airlines’ CEO Pedro Heilbron said that the Panamanian airline is primarily interested in “increasing the opportunities for tourism and business in this important province of Panama, by connecting Chiriqui directly to Latin America’s main hub and the 69 international destinations it serves.”

With these two new flights, Chiriqui’s residents and visitors alike will be able to enjoy the world-class service that Copa Airlines is known for, as well as one of the best levels of on-time performance worldwide. In addition, they will have access to the convenient connections offered by the Hub of the Americas.Heilbron added that “Copa Airlines, as a Panamanian company, is very proud to resume flying a route within Panama, and to provide the same quality of service within the country that we provide internationally. Also, with these flights, we are supporting the Panamanian government’s plans for developing tourism and increasing growth in the province of Chiriqui.”The two new flights will operate daily from Enrique Malek Airport in San Jose de David to the domestic terminal at Tocumen International Airport. Passengers traveling from Chiriqui in the morning will be able to connect directly to flights bound for South America, while passengers traveling the afternoon will be able to connect to flights bound for North America. In other words, travelers from Chiriqui will be able to eat breakfast in San Jose de David in the morning, and eat dinner in Buenos Aires or Miami later that same day.

Copa Airlines will operate both of these new flights using modern Embraer-190 that can carry 94 passengers, with 10 seats in business class and 84 seats in the main cabin.
